Rainy Day Uniform

February 21, 2017 0 Comments
I don't know about the places where you guys live, but here in California we have been getting an unusual amount of rain recently. I literally have never owned rain boots in my life (embarrassing... I know), but after ruining a perfectly good pair of Uggs (thanks, rain) I decided that I needed to get a good pair of rain boots ASAP. I went to the little shoe store in my town and found a sturdy pair of Kamiks that I figured would get me through the winter. They are actually super comfortable and cute even though they originally caught my eye because they were on sale ($30 boots are always a plus).

You can probably find me wearing this entire outfit (or a pretty close variation of it) at least twice a week! Yeah, yeah, I know that outfit repeats are the worst, but don't worry; I switch the polo for a turtleneck or the down jacket to a raincoat just to spice things up. I also make sure that I throw on a scarf, keeping the outfit fresh! This is my favorite outfit right now though because it's practical, follows my school's dress code (collared shirts are a must!), and very, very cute!

I love winter clothes and winter weather, but I must say that if the sun doesn't come out to greet me pretty soon, I'm going to be in a very bad mood for the rest of the season.

What's your go-to winter outfit?

Xoxo💕

Artist to Watch For

February 20, 2017 0 Comments
A week ago, my friends and I were listening to the radio when it was announced that JoJo is coming to our area to perform a concert. I am personally a HUGE fan of live music and concerts, and so I was all for going. First I decided that maybe it would be a good idea to listen to some of her songs first. I was happy to find out that her music is actually good quality. I would classify the genre as like... edgy pop? I'm not really sure. It's good music though!
She's currently on her Mad Love Tour. The concert that I was going to go to is tonight, but I woke up very sick this morning so I had to give my ticket away. I asked my friend to send me videos though! I really wish I could go. I even chose my edgy concert outfit and everything! :(
Recognize her? I sure did, but I wasn't sure from where. Then I realized, she's the girl from the movie RV! I loved that movie when I was younger, and I had no idea that Jojo had moved on to do music and that she's so talented!

Anyway, watch out for Jojo because I think she could become a big deal in pop music pretty soon! You can find her songs on Spotify. My favorites are "Vibes", "I am", and "Too Little Too Late".
Look up her concert schedule and find out more about her here!

What are your favorite songs right now? Let me know in the comments and I'll give them a listen :)

Spring Fashion is Coming

February 19, 2017 0 Comments
Spring is quickly approaching, and though it's not warm enough to wear the clothes yet, it's probably time to start updating our wardrobes with the cutest spring '17 styles!

I'll show you some of my favorite looks, brand by brand!

Vineyard Vines

I love literally everything Vineyard Vines, but these different articles of clothing really caught my eye while I was skimming through the new arrivals section of their website! Can't you just imaging a nice day at the beach wearing some of these adorable outfits?

J. Crew

I obviously have a bit of an obsession with navy, but it's honestly THE best color. It matches almost everything, it's classy, it's professional; I could literally talk about it all day. Anyway, J. Crew is the epitome of classic prep, so navy is a given. They haven't put up too many spring styles yet, but I'm sure they will soon, so stay posted!

Lilly Pulitzer

The colorful patterns of Lilly Pulitzer never stop amazing me. They're so fun that I feel I just need them in my life, you know? This shirt and these dresses are so cute! I'd love their shorts too if they were just a liiiittle bit shorter, but those are still adorable, too. I'll definitely get some Lilly before I go traveling for the summer or even spring break who knows!

Ralph Lauren

Like J. Crew, Ralph Lauren doesn't have a whole bunch of new spring looks posted yet, but just looking at their new arrivals, I fell in love with these two blue and white pinstriped dresses. Both are so cute and elegant! Also, the black top looks very sophisticated and could definitely go from daytime casual to night time dressy with just a few changes of accessories! Lastly, the American Flag sweater is my all time favorite, just because it is so adorable and I'm a very patriotic person!

I hope you like some of my favorites from the new spring collections!
Suggest some of your favorites in the comments because I'd love to have a look at them!
xoxo

Guide to a Perfect Girl's Night

February 19, 2017 0 Comments
With this being a holiday weekend, I decided to plan a fun sleepover with my best friend, Hannah. I hadn't seen her in a while because we go to different schools now, but it felt as if no time had passed since our last visit. We did pretty basic sleepover things, but honestly that's the best way to have it.
Sleepover necessities?
CHICK FLICKS
We chose some classic Nicholas Sparks movies because we were up for a good cry.
Usually I like to watch comedy movies (especially romcoms!) but these are two of
my favorite romantic movies, and they're always good if you need to have a catharsis
and cry at all of your feelings lol
SNACKS
Snacks are maybe the most important part of the whole night, and who could go
wrong with a giant cookie that you bake in a skillet? The answer is no one. This
cookie is actual heaven (even though we burned ours a bit) and top it off with
some ice cream? True. Love. Sorry Nicholas Sparks but even you couldn't write
a novel that accurately describes my love of cookies, just saying.
Here is the link for the cookie recipe!
FACE MASKS AND NAIL POLISH
Sadly, we didn't take any great mud mask pictures, but the mask didn't really
show up on our faces because it was pretty light, so we decided not to. This
mask felt super good and left our faces so smooth. We accidentally left it on
for way longer than we were supposed to, but my face isn't completely breaking
out or anything which is always a good sign!
Photocreds
I'd show you a picture of my nails but I accidentally dropped the bottle and
spilled polish all over my hand (oops). Then I didn't really feel like redoing my
nails because that is just such a struggle.

And lastly if you're like us...
PHOTOSHOOT
I know, it seems really weird, but when you are trying to start a blog and
your best friend has a nice camera, a photoshoot is a pretty logical thing to do.
Of course we tried taking good pictures...
But most of them ended up like this lol
And lastly don't forget to use some really great props... Maybe I can
use this when I create my first album... after I learn how to play guitar...
and sing... and form a band...
I hope this will help you plan your next sleepover with your besties!
Comment some fun things you always do with your friends, and I'll give them a try!
xoxo

Photocreds all go to my bff Hannah except for the mud mask picture!

Kate Spade Surprise Sale! My Top 5 Favorites!

February 07, 2017 0 Comments
If you haven't yet heard of the BEST sale out there, prepare to be amazed. The Kate Spade Surprise Sale is finally here! These sales happen every couple of months, and often you can find some great bags, jewelry, and more for up to 75% off!
This is the first surprise sale since I think December, so grab those wallets (or buy a new cute kate spade one) because you will be drooling over the products on sale today!

My Top Five Favorites:

This pretty bangle was the first thing to catch my eye while I was shopping.
It's a perfect mixture of gold and pearls, and would look really elegant with any outfit!
The second thing that I fell in love with was this whale print.
It is just so adorable! This particular bag would be really useful for anything!

I don't know about you guys, but here in California we've been getting more rain
than we have in over 5 years! I had to go out and buy new rainbows the other day,
and what better item to pair with them than this umbrella? The rose print is actually
one of my favorite Kate Spade prints of all time (it's even my computer background!)

The texture on this radiant red clutch is what really got my attention.
I think that the little bumps add a bit of fun to the clutch and make it unique!
Also, this clutch could go from being casual during the day to a nice accessory
to that little black dress that you would wear to dinner!

Navy blue... Stripes... Fit and flare... What more could a prepster want?
This dress is absolutely adorable! Perfect for that fancy sailing party... or
just an elegant walk in the park! Match it with the pearl bangle,
and you mightjust become the best dressed person on the planet!
I hope that this gives you a taste of the fabulous sale that Kate Spade is having right now! Make sure you shop sooner rather than later though, or some of your favorite products might be sold out! Also, the sale ends in just two days, so start shopping now!

Let me know what your favorites are, too!

How to Write the Perfect Thank You Note

January 21, 2017 0 Comments
I know that we're already half way through January (or maybe a little further), but if you're like me and you're busy all the time, thank you notes tend to get written a bit after they should have been.
Writing a good thank you note is so important because it shows people that you are professional, you care, and you're on top of things. Often, writing a good thank you note can take some time or is very hard. Sometimes the note seems way too short and it feels awkward. Here is a format for a perfect note that works for all your Christmas (or birthday) thank you's!

Steps:

  1. Get cute stationery! Even the dollar store will have good options. Ones that say "Thank You" on the front are especially good, but even ones with just a print or a picture will work, too. The stationery that is in the picture above is from Papyrus!
  2. Find a pen that won't smear on the card (or if you are using a pen that will, like pilot pens, make sure each line dries before you move onto the next one). I use PaperMate Flair Felt Tip Pens because they don't smear at all on card stock.
  3. Write the letter using this format:
Dear ____________,
Thank you so much for the _____________ that you gave to me for Christmas! It was so thoughtful of you. (Then a sentence about how you like it or when you use it. Ex: The jacket is so warm and fits me really well!). It was so nice seeing you (if they gave it to you in person). ~OR~ I miss you so much! We have to visit soon (if they mailed it to you). I hope you had a really nice holiday! Happy New Year!
Love, (or Thank you again, or From,)
                                                 _________________ (Your Signature)

      4. Put the letter in an envelope, and address it.
      5. Make sure you put your return address in the upper left corner, then stamp it and mail it!

Writing a thank you note is really simple, and people enjoy receiving them a lot! A thank you email works in a pinch, but a real letter has a much better effect.

Happy New Year!

January 02, 2017 0 Comments
It's officially 2017! How has it happened already? I know it's already January 2nd, but yesterday I was asleep for the majority of the day (oops).
Because the old year has died (rip 2016), I think it's time for some of my bad habits to die as well. It's also probably a good time to develop some new good habits!
With that, here is my 2017 Resolution List!

  • Read a new book every month (one that I haven't read ever)
  • STOP reading those stupid snapchat discover articles
  • Spend less time on my phone and on Netflix
  • Learn how to sew
  • Get a job
  • Save money
  • Do my homework when I get home from school and not the minute before class
I plan to work on these resolutions throughout the year and hopefully some of them will stick. Mainly I want to focus on becoming a harder worker and developing useful skills that I can use when I'm older.

As for what I did on New Years Eve, I decided to keep it casual this year. My friend planned a small party for me and five other girls. We made champagne cupcakes, drank apple cider (mostly), and watched movies while 2016's clock ticked away. At 11:55, we turned on a replay of Times Square's New Year celebrations and counted down the last seconds. When the ball dropped, we ran out on the street in her neighborhood with sparklers and air horns (probably waking up the entire town), and then we danced to Fifth Harmony and called it a night!
Running through the streets with my sparklers.
Gold nail polish from Urban Outfitters.

The next morning, I woke up and realized that I had lost my voice, so I went home after a quick breakfast and got in my bed.
Morning After... I don't even know what was in those glasses at that point ;)
What are your New Years Resolutions?
Have a good 2017!
